The College of The Albemarle is a comprehensive community college that offers students, business owners and others the opportunity to further their education. Through college courses, workshops, standardized tests and work placements, students of the COA have been expanding their horizons and improving their skills for nearly 50 years. As the only community college located in Elizabeth City, North Carolina, the COA is the state's community college for the northeast region, and it serves Camden, Chowan, Currituck, Dare, Gates, Pasquotank, and Perquimans counties.
Roanoke-Chowan Community College is located in Ahoskie, North Carolina, which is about 55 miles west of Elizabeth City. R-CCC has students of all ages and interests. Martin Community College of Windsor, North Carolina, is located about 50 miles southwest of Elizabeth City. This community college offers students small, intimate classes at affordable costs and convenient times to help them reach all of their education and certification goals. Men and women may enroll as full-time or part-time students at Martin Community College.
Halifax Community College, which was established in 1967, is located in Weldon, North Carolina. As a young community college, it only offers 22 degree programs, 14 diploma programs, 15 on-campus and 7 off-campus certification opportunities. However, as student enrollment numbers continue to rise each year so do the prospects for additional programs, degrees and certifications.
