The Rhode Island School of Design has a graduate program called Digital and Media. This graduate program trains students with the latest digital art technology and utilizes the technology across artistic disciplines. Coursework explores how to utilize augmented graphics, motion-capture technology, digital audio art pieces, and electrical installation based art. The program also works with neighboring Brown University, allowing Rhode Island School students to enroll in Brown art courses.
The Academy of Art University in San Francisco is the home to the School of Web Design and New Media. At the School of Web Design and New Media, students incorporate the basic foundations of artistic designs toward new graphic and computer technologies. Course material entails practical skills such as web design, but also newer technological approaches including interactive computer programs and Flash media programs. Students can work toward a BFA or MFA in this program.
Ringling College of Art and Design is a four-year, liberal arts program that provides a number of courses in various art fields. Students should have no problem enrolling in an academic program that entails digital art with the multiple art programs listed at the school. Students can enroll in photography and digital imagining, motion design, illustration, graphic and interactive communication, game art and design, digital film-making, computer animation, and advertising design. All of these programs include some aspect of digital art and utilizing new technology to craft works of art for freelance or business purposes.
The School of Visual Arts is located in New York City. The School contains an undergraduate, graduate, and continuing education branch. In the undergraduate level, students can enroll in several digital art programs including visual and critical studies, illustration, animation, computer art, and graphic design. In the graduate department, students can enroll in MFA or MPS programs including digital photography, illustration and visual essay, interaction design, and computer art. The continuing education department at the School of Visual Arts has both web and graphic design, computer art, computer animation, digital photography, and a photoshop illustration program.
