Visit the DoD transferability application website. This website is used to determine if dependents are eligible to receive the GI Bill. The website may only be accessed with Internet Explorer.
Click "OK" to begin the application. Most of the questions are basic and similar to ones you would find on a tax form.
Submit the application. Approval of the application varies, but the process usually only takes a few days to a couple of weeks.
Complete a VA Form 22-1990e once the eligibility application has been approved. The form is available in an electronic and paper version. To fill out the application electronically, members will need to sign up for a Veterans On-Line Application. The form requires military members to list some basic info about themselves, the dependent and the college the dependent wants to attend.
Submit or mail the application. The form will automatically be submitted electronically; an address is listed at the top of the paper version for mailing. The wait time for the approval of this application varies.
