How to Transfer to Armstrong Atlantic University

Armstrong Atlantic State University, in Savannah, Georgia, was founded in 1935. It is a public university serving undergraduate and graduate students. In 2011, its approximately 7,000 students had access to more than 100 distinct academic programs. Armstrong accepts applications for admission as undergraduate freshmen, as well as international, transfer, transient and graduate students. You can complete most of the application online through the university's website, which includes supporting information and clear requirements for each type of applicant.

      Determine if you meet the requirements of a transfer student. You must have a college GPA of 2.0 or greater. You must also have 30 semester, or 45 quarter college credits that are transferable to Armstrong. Evaluate the credits you have available through the Transfer Articulation interface on the Armstrong website. If you cannot transfer at least 30 semester or 45 quarter credits, you will have to meet new freshman requirements.

      Apply for admission well in advance of your desired start date. Submit the application through the Armstrong Atlantic University website. The application deadline is also listed on the website.

      Mail the Readmission Application for Former Students if you have previously attended Armstrong.

      Mail your supporting documents to the Office of Admissions at 11935 Abercorn St. Savannah, GA, 31419-1997. These include official high school transcripts, official GED scores (if applicable) and official college transcripts. Submit all college transcripts regardless of the transferability of credits. If you are transferring less than 30 semester or 45 quarter hours, submit official SAT or ACT scores.

      Submit the application fee ($25 in 2011). When applying online, you will obtain a student ID and PIN. You can use these to log in to the Armstrong Atlantic State University Student Account Suite (S.H.I.P. account). While Visa is no longer accepted for payment, you can use American Express, Discover Card or MasterCard. Payments must meet a minimum amount ($3 in 2011), and a 2.75 percent convenience fee applies to the total amount. You can also pay by check through your S.H.I.P. account using Webcheck. To pay on campus, present cash, money order, cashier's check, personal check or credit card (American Express, Discover Card, MasterCard and Visa are accepted) to the Bursar's Office at Burnett Hall. Mailed checks are also accepted at this location.

      Send your immunization records to Armstrong using the University System of Georgia Required Certificate of Immunization, accessible through the Armstrong website, to Office of Admissions, 11935 Abercorn St., Savannah, GA, 31419-1997

      Apply for financial aid. Fill out and submit the FAFSA online. You can also apply for the HOPE Scholarship (GA College 411) online. Armstrong also awards scholarships on the basis of merit and/or financial need. You can apply for these using the Scholarship Application, which you can obtain online or on campus at the Office of Financial Aid.
