Several schools offer bachelor's, masters and doctoral degrees in holistic nutrition. These programs can be completed in a traditional classroom setting or online.
If you enroll in an online nutrition program, you have the ability to study and attend class on your own schedule. You can communicate with your professors using email and network with peers through conference calls and at nutrition conferences. Online courses also cost less than traditional classroom courses.
The Institute for Integrative Nutrition was founded in 1992 and began its online distance learning program in 2009. Students enrolled in the distance learning program use iPods to listen to audio lectures and view video classes. The institute grants certificates in holistic nutrition, not degrees.
Clayton College offers both certificate and degree programs online. Students log on to Blackboard to receive assignments, communicate with peers and professors and take exams.
Hawthorn University has two online master's degree programs--a Master of Science in Health & Nutrition Education and a Master of Science in Holistic Nutrition--an online Doctorate in Holistic Nutrition and an online Nutrition Consultant certificate program.
