Located in Farmington, Connecticut, the School of Dental Medicine began in 1968 and has been a leader in dentistry education with a focus on research, patient care and community outreach. The College of Dental Medicine is a part of the University of Connecticut Health Center. The college aims to promote professionalism and provide individual attention to each student by educating students about high-quality health care for patients.
Established in 1972, the College of Dentistry is the only publicly funded dental school in Florida. One of the oldest dental schools in the country, Penn Dental Medicine is on the University of Pennsylvania campus in Philadelphia. The school is a private, Ivy League institution that focuses on patient care, education and research. Class size is about 455 students in the four-year Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) program. Programs include a pre-doctoral DMD program, postgraduate programs in clinical specialties and programs for advanced studies in dental medicine.
The Dental School of the University of Maryland was created from the Baltimore College of Dental Surgery, established in 1840 by the Maryland General Assembly. The school offers degrees in dental surgery, bachelor's and master's degrees in dental hygiene and graduate programs in oral and craniofacial biological sciences. The Dental School is highly active in the community and works in conjunction with public health institutions locally and throughout the world.
