    • The Johns Hopkins University opened in 1876. Nine academic divisions make up the university. One of these is the Johns Hopkins medicine division. Students who want to enter the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine must have exemplary school records. The curriculum in the medical school includes laboratory research, bedside training and training in special medical fields. The US News & World Report ranks the medical school as top two for the best medical schools in the United States. The medical school also holds six places in specialty rankings (otolaryngology, urology, rheumatology, etc.) fifth place for PhD program ranking and four places for biological science specialty rankings.

    Washington University in St. Louis

    • Washington University opened its medical school in 1891. There are 20 departments in the School of Medicine. Some of the degree programs that they offer include Master of Science in Deaf Education, Clinical Investigation, Genetic Epidemiology, Doctor of Audiology, Physical Therapy and many more. Students at Washington University's School of Medicine will have the chance to gain some hands on experience with hospital affiliates of the school including Barnes-Jewish Hospital, Alvin J. Siteman Cancer Center and the St. Louis Children's Hospital. The school offers three degree programs for the medical field. These are the four-year MD degree program, the five-year MA and MD degree program and the seven-year PhD and MD degree program.
