Founded in 1952, the University of Wollongong is located in southern Sydney. With campuses at three sites around Wollongong, the university is a research-based center for learning. The Graduate School of Medicine's mission is to redress medical provider shortages in rural and remote parts of Australia. The medical program runs for four years and is comprised of structured and self-directed learning. Students will receive clinical and classroom training during their first three years. In their final year, they will participate in a prevocational training (or internship) program. After successfully completing their training, graduates are eligible to be registered as practitioners in Australia and New Zealand.
