University of Wollongong

• Founded in 1952, the University of Wollongong is located in southern Sydney. With campuses at three sites around Wollongong, the university is a research-based center for learning. The Graduate School of Medicine's mission is to redress medical provider shortages in rural and remote parts of Australia. The medical program runs for four years and is comprised of structured and self-directed learning. Students will receive clinical and classroom training during their first three years. In their final year, they will participate in a prevocational training (or internship) program. After successfully completing their training, graduates are eligible to be registered as practitioners in Australia and New Zealand.

• Based in Perth, the University of Western Australia provides training in medicine, dentistry and health sciences, and offers undergraduate, combined degree and postgraduate studies in various health-related fields. Students who are interested in business courses that are related to health care have the option of enrolling in the combined degree program, which includes courses in humanities, law and economics. Postgraduate study in health care is comprised of master's and doctoral degrees in medicine, dentistry, podiatry and physiotherapy.

University of Tasmania

• Located on the island state of Tasmania, the faculty of health science at the University of Tasmania is comprised of numerous schools, including the school of human life sciences, medicine, pharmacy, and nursing and midwifery. In addition to receiving their medical training, students have the option of specializing in fields like surgery or medical research. Candidates who are enrolled in the medicine and surgery program must complete their final two years by taking part in clinical training. Postgraduate course offerings include a diploma in pathology, and a master's degree in medical science and surgery. The medical curriculum is designed to include themes like human and health disease, community health and disease, and personal and professional development.
