The Cleveland Clinic has a School of Cardiovascular Perfusion that offers a three-term program. Prospective students must have completed a bachelor's degree as well as six prerequisite classes, including anatomy and physiology, calculus and physics. The program includes both clinical experience and clinical classes that will be taught at clinic locations throughout the greater Cleveland area.

The Texas Heart Institute School of Perfusion Technology offers a 12-month program. This program requires a bachelor’s degree, and will teach students how to use all of the equipment necessary in the operating room. Each student will be taking an on-call rotation with a staff perfusionist. Only 16 students are accepted into the program each year, and upon completion, students will be ready to take the certification exam.

Barry University’s College of Health Sciences offers a bachelor of science in cardiovascular perfusion. This program is a two-year long program designed for students who have already completed a couple of years of college. Learning in the classroom comprises most of the first two semesters, with the remaining being clinical experience to prepare the student for certification upon graduation.
