RRT to RN Bridge Programs

Several "bridge" programs allow registered respiratory therapists to use their current knowledge to obtain a RN degree. These associate degree programs can then be used to obtain a RN license. Prerequisites for these programs, as well as course length and pricing, vary.
  1. MICT/RRT to RN Bridge Program

    • Kansas City Kansas Community College's MICT/RRT to RN Bridge Program requires a total of 60 credit hours to receive an associate in applied science in nursing degree. Required coursework includes human development; mental health principles; MICT/RRT to RN care and transition concepts; MICT/RRT articulation principles; nursing care coordinators and women and neonates. Other required classes include communications, English, psychology, microbiology, physiology, human anatomy, chemistry and math and humanities electives. Students are required to take a final project seminar. Students looking to transfer courses should contact the admissions office to determine if they are eligible. Classes start each fall.

    RN Bridge Program

    • Kaylim Career Institute's RN Bridge Program is open to LPN, paramedic and respiratory therapist professionals looking to become a RN. This is mostly an online program, and students will receive study guides on exams that they will be taking. There will be one class four hours per week. Upon completion, students will have all the credits needed to receive an associate degree in nursing. Coursework includes patient care, nursing principles, critical thinking and patient observation. Students must take their own licensure tests once the program is completed; the school does not offer the tests. Students who wish to transfer credits must contact the school directly. Students must take a total of seven general education course and eight nursing theory examinations to pass. This is an open enrollment school, and students can begin taking classes at any time.

    Respiratory Therapist to RN Program

    • Rue Education's Respiratory Therapist to RN Program prepares students so that they can obtain an associate of science in nursing degree, and students have the option of taking the courses online or in a classroom. Students enrolled in the online programs will receive all study materials along with support from tutors, advisors, nurse educators and peer groups. Coursework includes classes to help students learn patient management, RN clinical skills and how to work with a team of professionals.
