The school was established in 1902, 10 years after the founding of the University of Chicago. A history of the law school notes that it has been instrumental in numerous advances in legal education, including the recognition of legislative, comparative and administrative law as fields of study. Top-Law-Schools.com called this law school "one of the most intellectual" in the country, and says it is also known for having an excellent faculty. The school has about 600 students.

The University of Illinois College of Law ranked No. 23 on "U.S. News & World Report's" 2009 list of top law schools. This represented a move up of five places. In Champaign-Urbana, the law school was a founding member of the Association of American Law Schools. The school specializes in business and commercial law, employment law and environmental law, among other fields. Top-Law-Schools.com says this law school is one of the best public law schools in the United States. It has about 600 students.

Loyola University Chicago ranked 87th on the "U.S. News & World Report" list. The university was originally called St. Ignatius College when it was founded by the religious order of Jesuits in 1870. It became known as Loyola University in 1908 when it joined with the Lincoln School of Law. It is still affiliated with the Jesuits. The school, in downtown Chicago, has many compelling reasons to attend, says Top-Law-Schools.com. It can be difficult to be admitted by this law school, which has more than 600 students.
