IU Bloomington offers a program that, in 2009, placed 98.5 percent of its alumni in a job within nine months of graduation. Because of its prestige, however, admission is extremely competitive. In 2009 just 220 students enrolled in classes compared to the 2,524 applications received.

The highest ranked private law school in Indiana, the University of Notre Dame is tied with Indiana University as the 23rd best law school in the nation, according to the U.S. News & World Report law school rankings for 2009. Located near South Bend, Notre Dame is also the oldest Roman Cathloic law school in the country. In 2009, the school admitted 186 students out of 2,178 applicants. Those admitted had a median LSAT score of 166 and a median grade point average of 3.6.

Indiana University at Indianapolis, like its sister school in Bloomington, is regarded as a top-tier law school and comes in at 87th nationally in the 2009 U.S. News & World Report law school rankings. With an enrollment of 1,000 law students, alumni of IU Indianapolis comprise of nearly half of Indiana's practicing lawyers. The school admitted 196 full-time law students in 2009 that had average LSAT scores in the 154 to 160 range and average grade point averages between 3.7 and 3.2.
