The City University of New York School of Law offers clinical concentration areas to supplement the Juris Doctor degree. This clinical program has been recognized by the U.S. News and World Report as one of the best in the country for the past decade. Areas of concentration include elder law, criminal defense, mediation, community and economic development, economic justice and international women's human rights. In these clinical programs, students learn through hands-on case study experiences designed to prepare them to enter the legal field in their particular area of study.

The cooperative program allows students to have four quarters of professional, full-time experience upon graduation.
