The Dorothy F. Schmidt College of Arts and Letters boasts that students from every major it offers have gone on to succeed in their chosen career of law. Many students from its English, history, philosophy and political science programs have directly applied their chosen major in the legal field. The school focuses on teaching the specific skills necessary to do well on the LSAT, including analytical reasoning, communication, legal institutions and ethics.
Keiser University offers a bachelor of arts degree in legal studies. This program aims to train students to be successful in a law or law-related career or prepare them for further education in law school. Students must complete 120 credit hours in mandatory courses such as Legal Research & Writing I, Wills, Trusts & Estates, and Legal Interviewing & Investigation. Upper division homeland security courses are also mandatory.
At Nova Southeastern University's Farquhar College of Arts and Sciences, the legal studies program classes are rarely larger than 30 students, and the program is offered in both daytime and evening classes. One unique thing to note about the school is that pre-law students can exercise the Dual Admission Option, which allows those in the undergraduate program to apply for and secure an acceptance to the college's graduate program on a priority basis.
From 2009 to 2010, the University of Central Florida boasted an enrollment increase of 10.5% to its legal studies program, which is taught by professors with law degrees. Students have an option of obtaining either a bachelor of arts or bachelor of science degree. In addition to a degree, the university also offers the option of earning specialized certificates, including Law and Society, Sports and Entertainment Law, and Estates and Property Law.
