How to Apply to Cleveland State University

Cleveland State University (CSU), located just east of downtown Cleveland Ohio, was founded in 1964 and offers over 100 courses of undergraduate and graduate study. The 85-acre state university has a current enrollment of around 16,000 students, about 60 percent of whom are undergraduates.

      Complete the application. The first step in applying to Cleveland State University is completing the admission application. This form may be completed online, downloaded and printed or requested by calling (216) 687-5411.

      Obtain transcripts. Official high school transcripts from every school attended are required with the application. If post-secondary course work has been completed, college transcripts are also required. Prospective students with a GED must submit an official score from the state where the diploma was earned.

      Take the SAT or ACT test. Official ACT or SAT test scores are required for admission to CSU. If these are listed on your high school transcripts, that's fine. You may also have the scores sent directly to Cleveland State by the testing agencies.

      Get a College Prep Form. Current high school seniors will need to have the high school guidance counselor complete a College Prep form. This form may be downloaded from the CSU website.

      Submit materials and fee. The above materials, along with the application fee, may be submitted to CSU online, by mail or by visiting the university's Office of Admissions at Rhodes Hall West, room 204.
