How to Apply to Metro State College

Located in Colorado, Metropolitan State College of Denver operates three campuses in the Denver area. A public college, Metro State has a student body of more than 24,000 and offers bachelor's, master's and certificate programs. Application requirements for Metro State College vary based on the age of the applicant, transfer status and degree program. Instructions

  1. Applicants 19 and Under

      Complete a Metro State College application for admission online and submit the application fee. The application fee is $25 (as of January 2011). Applications must be submitted prior to each semester deadline which is generally mid-December for Spring, late April to mid-May for Summer and early July for Fall. Always check with the admissions office to confirm exact deadlines.

      Arrange for high school transcripts or GED scores to be sent to the office of admissions. Transcripts should include GPA and class rank.

      Take either the SAT or ACT exam and have scores sent to the office of admissions. GED candidates are not required to take these exams.

      Obtain a CCHE Index Score. This can be calculated on the Metro State College website and is an index established by the Colorado Commission on Higher Education based on GPA, class rank and college entrance exam scores. Scores of 84 or below on the CCHE Index are encouraged to include a personal statement and letters of recommendation.

    Applicants 20 and Older

      Submit scores from the SAT or ACT exams, if they were completed. These tests are not required for applicants age 20 or older.

    Transfer Students

      Attend a meeting with a Metro State transfer counselor. Bring copies of transcripts from other institutions.

      Arrange for official transcripts and required test scores to be sent to the office of admissions. Test requirements vary by program of study and may include the GMAT or GRE.

      Check with the specific program for additional requirements. Each master's program at Metro State College requires additional information which may include resumes, references and essays. These documents should be delivered directly to the department.

      Complete a CCHE Index test if required by the program. This can be completed on the Metro State College website and is calculated with graduate school entrance exam scores and undergraduate GPA.
