How to Apply to American River College

American River College is a two-year community college that is part of the larger Los Rios Community College District in the Sacramento, Calif., area. Each student must complete an application and return it to the Admissions Department at any Los Rios college or outreach center before enrolling in classes. Once the application is complete, enrollment is open to any person with a high school diploma, GED equivalent or who is at least 18 years old. Applying can be done easily online.

      Log on to American River College's website.

      Click on "Application" at the left-hand side of the page. Read the information on the page you are directed to and then click the button at the bottom of the screen that says "Begin the Los Rios Community College District Application."

      Create an online account by hitting the "New User" button. Fill out the required information and hit "Create My Account." Creating an account is free and it allows you to save your application online to be finished at a later time, if necessary.

      Fill out your "Applicant Information." This is the first page that pops up in your e-application. Fill in each field and save. You will then be taken to "Enrollment Information" followed by "Residency and Guardian Info" then "Educational Background," "Additional Information," and finally, "Security Questions." After you fill out each of these pages, hit "save" at the bottom of the screen.

      Finish all parts of your application and hit the large, red "Submit Your Completed Application" button on the left side of the screen. Your application will be sent to American River College electronically and you will be sent personal enrollment information to sign up for your first classes.
