Candidates for freshman admission must complete a secondary school or high school course of study, or equivalent preparation, including four units of English, three of mathematics, three science units, two units of history and social science, two units of foreign language and two college preparatory electives. Freshman applicants must also submit their SAT or ACT scores. International students whose native language is not English may instead submit scores for the TOEFL or the SAT II English Language Proficiency Test.
Transfer applicants are admitted on the basis of previous college courses and must provide an official transcript from each college attended. Students must have earned one of the following: 12 or more transferable college credits with a minimum 2.5 college grade point average or 24 transferable college credits with a minimum 2.0 grade point average.
Transfer candidates who do not meet these guidelines are treated as freshmen applicants and required to submit their high school transcript and SAT or ACT test scores.
Early Action Program applicants must have taken the SAT or ACT on or before the November test dates posted on the Bridgewater website, and must have completed the application and filed transcripts with the Admissions Office before Nov. 15. Early Action applicants will be notified of the decision on their admission by mid-December.
The Joint Admission Program involves Bridgewater State University and 15 Massachusetts community colleges. The program guarantees that students who graduate from the community colleges will be admitted to Bridgewater once they complete the designated transfer associate's degree program. Students must graduate with at least a 2.5 cumulative grade point to be eligible for this program. Students must check the Joint Admissions box on the Bridgewater application for admission through this program.
International students are required to begin the admissions application process at least eight months before the semester for which they are applying. An Affidavit of Financial Support Form must be submitted in addition to the application. Students are also asked to submit official transcripts and credentials in English, along with TOEFL or SAT I test results.
