Apply for special admissions at MVCC. Call the admissions office at 315-792-5354 to schedule an interview. An admissions specialist will determine what entrance exams you need to take and discuss enrollment in the GED program.
Enroll in the Liberal Arts and Science GED Equivalency degree program. This program is designed to provide you with the necessary course work to meet the New York State GED requirements.
Complete 24 credit hours covering a variety of coursework. To apply for a GED, you must complete six credit hours in English Language Arts, six credit hours in elective college course work and three credit hours each in math, natural science, social science and humanities.
Go to the MVCC Admissions Office, the Office of Records and Registration, or the Advisement Center to pick up an application for the GED.
Fill out and sign the application for the New York State high school equivalency diploma.
Fill out your name, Social Security number and birth date on the College Credit Certification Form.
Give the College Credit Certification Form to the MVCC registrar office to fill out the remaining information and attach a copy of your transcript. The New York GED testing office prefers you to mail the application and transcripts in the same envelope, so ask the registrar office to seal the form and transcripts in an official envelope. The registrar office will be very familiar with this process.
Mail the application, the sealed envelope from the registrar office and a 10 dollar check or money order for the application fee. Send the packet to GED Testing Office, P.O. Box 7348, Albany, New York 12224-0348.
