Top Pharmacy Schools in America

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the job market for pharmacists will continue to grow by a better-than-average rate of 17 percent through 2018. Given the competitive nature of the field, it is best to get your degree from an institution that is recognized as a highly respected institution in the industry. "U.S. News and World Report" rated pharmacy schools (the last rankings were completed in 2008) according to various criteria such as research funding and reputation. A few schools emerged as the clear leaders in the field.
  1. University of California--San Francisco

    • The top-rated pharmacy school in the nation, according to "U.S. News and World Report," is the University of California at San Francisco (UCSF). UCSF also has one of the top medical schools in the country, which only enhances pharmacological studies at the university by giving pharmacy students access to top researchers and facilities in the medical community. The school offers both the PharmD and the Ph.D. degree. PharmD. specialties include pharmaceutical care, health policy and management and pharmaceutical sciences. Departments within the College of Pharmacy include the Department of Bioengineering Science and Therapeutic Science, Department of Clinical Pharmacy and the Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry. Joint degrees with the PharmD include the Ph.D., Master of Public Health and the Master of Science in Clinical Research. Various Ph.D. specialties and post-doctoral programs are also available.
