San Diego Junior Colleges

San Diego, California, is a culturally diverse city with a boatload of recreational activities, buzzing nightlife scene, vibrant arts and entertainment options and a well-respected education sector. When it comes to choice of higher education, there are plenty of junior college options in the area to suit a variety of goals.
  1. San Diego Miramar College

    • Situated in the Mira Mesa/Scripps region of San Diego, San Diego Miramar College offers a combination of 120 certificate, associate degree and transfer programs to more than 13,000 students every semester. Most students transfer to the University of California as well as other state-operated and private universities after attending Miramar College. The San Diego Regional Public Safety Institute and the Southern California Biotechnology Center are both located at this campus, which is part of the San Diego Community College District. Students can get degrees and/or certificates in business administration, child development, diesel technology, fire protection, military studies and more. There are also numerous extracurricular activities for students at Miramar College, including the Miramar Arts Association, the Fitness Specialist Club, the Science Club and basketball, soccer and swim teams.

    San Diego City College

    • San Diego City College offers more than 200 programs for those interested in continuing their education or obtaining new professional skills. While many students transfer to another university, others go on to get technical certificates or take classes to enhance existing skills that enable them to move in a new career direction. Program options include art, biology, computer information systems, English, history, musical theatre and more. There is also a study abroad program available at City College, allowing students the opportunity to continue their education overseas. Scholarships and financial aid are available for students interested in enrollment.

    San Diego Mesa College

    • Mesa College is the largest community college in San Diego, and one of the largest in the state of California. This institution offers both AA (Associate of Arts) and AS (Associate of Science) degrees, as well as technical certificates. The college boasts a Learning Resource Center, as well as a fine arts facility. The Learning Center boasts an expansive library, a computer lab and a host of other resources. There is also a student government council, 19 different athletic teams and numerous other clubs and student-oriented activities.
