Journalism Colleges in Ohio

Several of Ohio's public research universities offer undergraduate and graduate degree programs in journalism. Students can pursue a variety of journalism fields, including print, digital and broadcast journalism. Undergraduates at Ohio's journalism schools can complete professional internships during the summers and the academic years.
  1. Ohio University

    • Ohio University's E.W. Scripps School of Journalism offers undergraduate and graduate programs in advertising, broadcast news, magazine journalism, news writing and editing, online journalism and public relations. The school emphasizes the study of the liberal arts to complement professional training. Graduate students can work toward a Master of Science in journalism or a Ph.D. in mass communication. All students have the opportunity to write and edit for the university's daily newspapers and other publications and to work for university broadcast television and radio stations.

    Ohio State University

    • The Ohio State University School of Communication offers undergraduate programs in public affairs journalism, communication analysis and practices, communication technology and strategic communication. The school requires all undergraduate public affairs journalism students to complete a news-related internship as well as a minor in their particular area of journalistic interest. Graduate students at the School of Communication can work toward a Master of Arts or a Ph.D. in communication.

    Kent State University

    • Kent State University's School of Journalism and Mass Communications offers a variety of undergraduate and graduate degree programs. Undergraduates can work toward degrees in broadcast journalism, magazine journalism, newspaper journalism and photojournalism as well as electronic media, advertising and public relations. The school requires all undergraduates to complete internships at campus and local newspapers, radio stations, magazines or television stations. The school also offers graduate degree programs in media management, public relations and reporting and editing.
