The Aveda Institutes offer programs in cosmetology and esthiology. They teach the core fundamentals as well as advanced techniques. The curriculum is designed not only to prepare students for the state licensing exam, but also to teach the business and personal skills necessary to work in a professional salon. Scholarships are available by application. Include a letter of recommendation, a 200 word essay, and two before and after pictures for consideration. Both programs consist of class time and hands-on training to complete the hours needed to graduate. The cosmetology program consists of 1500 hours and the esthiology program consists of 900 hours.
Ohio Academy has two campuses: one in Cleveland and one in Columbus. Ohio Academy is a Paul Mitchel Partner School, and follows the Paul Mitchel philosophy which focuses on the artistic side of cosmetology while also enhancing your personal lifestyle goals. Throughout the program, national guest artists will visit the school to teach classes in their specialty. The program consists of 1500 hours in basic cosmetology and 300 hours in managing cosmetology. Ohio Academy's program consists of three phases called core, adaptive and creative. The teaching methods and courses are based on multiple intelligence learning research that states there are seven different ways to learn. The student will take a test to determine their strengths and an individual program is designed for the student based on their learning strengths.
Inner State Beauty School boasts many awards including the Ohio State Board of Cosmetology Award of Excellence. They offer full- or part-time training in cosmetology, cosmetology management, manicuring and manicuring management. A full-time program to become an esthetician at the managerial level is also available. Applicants over the age of 16 are admitted. Those entering the school who do not have a high school diploma or equivalent are required to take a test for entrance into the school.
Ohio State Schools of Cosmetology has many campuses available for your convenience, but they do recommend a visit to the different campuses to find the school that fits you best. These schools offer training in cosmetology, esthetics, barber styling and nail technology. Their managing cosmetology program consists of 1800 hours of class time and hands-on training. The school works to nurture and develop individual artistic styling skills. Training includes lectures and demonstrations as well as hands-on experience. The Karl Road campus also offers courses in Afri-centric studies.
