Indiana University has a program in Dutch language and culture under the auspices of its Department of Germanic Studies. The Department offers six classes in the Dutch language with plans to add a seventh as of 2010, in addition to three courses in Dutch culture and civilization. The university offers a Dutch minor under the Department of Germanic Studies or a major in Dutch under the Individualized Major Program. Indiana University's Dutch program is a part of the American Association of Netherlandic Studies, allowing students to compete for a grant to study Dutch in the Netherlands.

The University of California at Berkeley offers a broad range of courses in Dutch language, literature and linguistics. The University offers Dutch language courses on four different levels in addition to the Dutch linguistics class, which allows students to examine the structure of Dutch as it is spoken in the world today. There is also a class for students whose only desire is to learn to read Dutch for the purpose of examining historical texts. The beginner's course in Dutch can be taken in the summer, allowing students to get up to snuff before the school year starts.

The University of Pennsylvania offers Dutch language courses in its Department of Germanic Languages and Literature. The program includes four courses in Dutch including two elementary and two intermediate courses, a course in Renaissance art of the region and a course for students seeking only to learn to read the language. Independent study is available for students who wish to pursue an advanced mastery of the language.

The University of Minnesota offers a minor in the Dutch language under its Department of German, Scandinavian and Dutch. The Department offers opportunity for students to study and intern in the Netherlands. Class sizes are kept small and students have the chance to help shape the department through the Undergraduate Steering Committee, which sponsors special events throughout the year. There are also student clubs that give students of Dutch a chance to converse over coffee and take in Dutch cinema and other cultural activities.
