University of Michigan---Flint, an extension of the University of Michigan, was founded in 1956 as a two-year senior college. Today, the university offers more than 100 bachelor's degrees and 27 graduate degree programs in liberal arts and sciences, elementary and secondary education, health care, business and customized programs. The university is actively contributing to the revitalization of downtown Flint, and opened its first residence hall, accommodating 300 students in 2008.
