Genesee County is located in east-central Lower Michigan, and encompasses Flint, the county's largest city, and several smaller communities in the Flint metro area. The area is home to more college students than Princeton, New Jersey and New Haven, Connecticut combined, with more than 25,000 students enrolled in Genesee County's four main colleges.

    University of Michigan---Flint

    • University of Michigan---Flint, an extension of the University of Michigan, was founded in 1956 as a two-year senior college. Today, the university offers more than 100 bachelor's degrees and 27 graduate degree programs in liberal arts and sciences, elementary and secondary education, health care, business and customized programs. The university is actively contributing to the revitalization of downtown Flint, and opened its first residence hall, accommodating 300 students in 2008.
