At the Eunice campus, located in the town of Eunice, Louisiana, LSU offers a fully accredited one-year certificate program in diagnostic medical sonography. Some of the classes you can expect to take in this program include instrumentation, applied sonography, abdomen sonography and OB/GYN sonography. Once you graduate from this program you will be eligible to become licensed by taking the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography exam.

Unitech Training Academy is a technical school with multiple locations throughout south Louisiana. The Lafayette location offers a certificate program in diagnostic medical sonography. This fully accredited program is 15-months long and will prepare you for a career in sonography. Some of the classes that you will take in this program include anatomy and physiology, physics for sonography, body structure and ultrasound basics. During the course of the program you will also participate in labs and clinicals for real-time practice using sonography equipment. Upon completion of the physics class, students are eligible to take the physics portion of the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography exam. After you have graduated from the program and completed one year of work experience in sonography, you will be eligible to take the entire American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography exam to become licensed in all areas of Sonography.
