Top Accounting Colleges in America

\"U.S. News & World Report\" and \"Bloomberg BusinessWeek\" both publish rankings of schools with accounting programs. Their ranking criteria are quite different, however (\"Bloomberg\" relies on student data whereas \"U.S. News\" surveys business school deans and senior faculty), resulting in dissimilar ranking lists. Four schools appear on both publications’ lists: Notre Dame, the University of Texas at Austin, Brigham Young University, and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Although some of these schools rank near the top on \"Bloomberg\"’s student-driven list, others fail to crack the top ten. And whereas some deans and faculty may rate a school highly for \"U.S. News,\" students have a very different opinion of the same school when surveyed by \"Bloomberg.\"
  1. University of Notre Dame

    • Students rated Notre Dame’s accounting program as the best in the nation according to \"Bloomberg\"’s surveys whereas deans and faculty gave Notre Dame the No. 8 position on \"U.S. News & World Report\"’s list. Students who major in accountancy at Notre Dame must take 18 credits of accounting courses, with Accountancy II as a requirement. Other required courses include Strategic Cost Management and an Audit and Assurance Service course that students can only take in their senior year.

Students in the program can choose to earn a BBA in accounting or can pursue a finance degree with an accounting emphasis.
