Top Seminary Colleges

Seminary colleges prepare students for a career in the clergy or other areas of the church. Those wishing to become priests, rabbis or ministers go on to be ordained after studying theology as post graduate students. Seminary colleges exist for the Jewish the different Christian denominations. Seminary colleges are also called divinity colleges.
  1. George Fox University

    • In 2009, George Fox University ranked 58th in Forbes list of "America's Best Colleges." It was the highest ranking Christian college on the list. George Fox offers five different degrees in its seminary school, all postgraduate courses. You can study for a Master of Divinity, Master of Arts Theological Studies, Master of Arts Spiritual Formation, Master of Arts Ministry Leadership and Doctor of Ministry. When applying for a place you need to include three references with your application. Students also have to attend an interview.

    Princeton

    • Princeton Theological Seminary prepares students who wish to work within Christian churches. More than 50 percent of students come from the Presbyterian denomination. The school was the first seminary that the General Assembly founded in 1812. Students can choose to study one of four master's degrees or a Ph.D. in Ministry. The school hosts a seminar for prospective students to visit the seminary, meet professors, attend an admissions interview and sit in on classes.

    Grace College

    • U.S. News and World Report ranks Grace College and Seminary 35th in its list of "Best Colleges 2011," for the regional colleges of the Midwest. The seminary offers Master of Divinity, Master of Arts and Doctor of Ministry degrees. Applicants must include three references with their application, including a reference from their pastor.

    Emory

    • Emory Candler School of Theology is part of Emory University. Forbes ranked Emory University 59th in its 2009 list of "America's Best Colleges." At Emory you can take a master's degree in theology or divinity. You can also take a joint master's degree, combining your theology or divinity degree with business, law, or public health. Students must have an accredited degree with a good grounding in liberal arts and a minimum GPA of 2.75 to gain acceptance at the school of theology.
