Ventura College is a community college in the southern California seaside community of Ventura. Founded in 1925, today more than 13,000 students are enrolled in the two-year college's 90 associate and certificate degree academic programs of study. Ventura's Nursing Science program is designed to prepare graduates for licensure as RNs. The associate degree program is housed within the college's School of Nursing and Allied Health and includes courses such as introduction to professional nursing and nursing process applied to the client with health care deviations I, II and III.
Students matriculated into Ventura's Nursing Science program must additionally complete required general education coursework in behavioral science, composition and oral communication. Prior to admission, students must complete prerequisites in several science courses and in mathematics. Upon program completion, graduates of Ventura's Nursing Science program are prepared for examinations issued by the California Board of Registered Nursing or the Board of Licensed Vocational Nursing and Psychiatric Technician Examiners.

Located in the metropolitan Chicago area community of River Grove, Ill., Triton College was established in 1964. The suburban community college has grown rapidly over the years and today features more than 100 associate, certificate and diploma academic degree programs.
Housed within the college's School of Health Careers and Public Service Programs, Triton features two nursing courses of study, including the associate degree nursing program, which is a vocational training program for those desiring to pursue careers as RNs. High school level coursework in algebra, biology and chemistry must be completed before enrolling in the program, as well as additional college prerequisites. The four-semester program's curriculum includes courses like introduction to pharmacology I and II, nursing skills and leadership in the management of patient care, among others.

Named for its location in the Des Moines metropolitan area City of Ankeny, Iowa, the Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) is a two-year institution. With more than 130 degree programs and certifications, DMACC also features a dynamic student community of clubs, organizations and nationally ranked sports teams.
Soon after the college was established in 1966, they founded the Nursing Program in 1968, which today includes both licensed practical nurse and RN programs of study. The Associate of Science degree in nursing curriculum includes courses like mental health nursing, professional nursing practice and the nursing seminar, in addition to general science and behavioral science coursework. Accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission, DMACC's nursing program has produced a high rate of students to pass national licensure exams to become RNs.
