Canadian Equine Colleges

Canadian veterinarian colleges offer both four-year and graduate Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) programs in a variety of fields--from small animal to equine and livestock care. These programs allow students to work alongside faculty members in order to acquire hands-on experience working with animals. The programs are selective and accredited by such organizations as the Association of American Veterinary Hospitals, the American Veterinary Medical Association and the Canadian Veterinary Association.
  1. Western College of Veterinary Medicine at University of Saskatchewan

    • Western College offers undergraduate and graduate DVM programs for those interested in both small animal and large animal veterinarian care. The four-year undergraduate program gives students hands-on experience in both the lab and working with live animals. Graduate students have access to state-of-the art research facilities, an animal care unit and a research farm. Graduate students also have the privilege of working alongside faculty members. According to their website, the University of Saskatchewan is home to Canada's only synchrotron (a machine in which particles are electrostatically accelerated) and the internationally-recognized Vaccine and Infectious Disease Organization (VIDO).
