Attending a horse training college helps you better understand and work with your horse, and learn skills needed in the equestrian field in order to seek employment in the industry or for performing in competitions or shows. Learning horsemanship is necessary to ride safely and communicate effectively with a horse. Training a horse is important if you wish to achieve goals together and work in harmony.
  1. Meredith Manor International Equestrian Center

    • Located in Waverly, West Virginia, Meredith Manor is a nationally accredited equestrian career college. The focus of the studies include training, equine massage, teaching, breeding, horse health, business management, farrier and forging, and barn management. Through theory and practical course study, students can help a horse to achieve higher levels of mental and physical performance. The programs offered are bachelor's or associates degrees. Financial aid is offered for those who qualify. The college is accredited by the Accrediting Council for Continuing Education and Training, and is licensed by the State College System of West Virginia.

    Black Hawk College

    • This college near Kewanee, Illinois offers two equestrian programs. One is an Associate Degree in Horse Science Technology and the other is a certificate in Horse Science Technology. Upon graduation, students will be well-equipped to enter into employment in such areas as raising, breeding and managing horses. The program curriculum includes practical and classroom study. The associate degree is a two-year program and the certificate course is a minimum of 30 hours. Financial aid is available for those who qualify.

    Centenary College New Jersey

    • Located in Long Valley, NJ, Centenary offers an extensive equine degree program for both a Bachelor of Science in Equine Studies and Associate Degree in Equine Studies. The bachelor's program offers studies in equine business management, riding instruction and training, communication for the equine industry, and equine science. The associates degree is a two-year degree in equine studies and an Equine minor is also offered. A degree in equine studies can lead to jobs as a veterinarian technician, therapist, chiropractor and exercise physiology.
