Beta Sigma Phi Program Ideas

The Beta Sigma Phi sorority was formed in 1931 and has since become a way to make life-long friendships, participate in community efforts, assist charities and help in many other ways. Through specialized programs members of the sorority can learn a variety of things such as community needs, ways to help others, ways to help themselves, crafty activities and more.
  1. Self Defense Program

    • Self defense is an important tool for every woman.

A program such as self-defense can provide a great deal of useful information, including offering a practical defense tool. Bring in a professional teacher of self-defense techniques who will take the Beta Sigma Phi members through volunteer demonstrations. Provide the members with literature about self-defense techniques, have a question-and-answer session. Give a quiz at the end of the program. Another idea is to hand out self-defense pepper spray.

    Breast Cancer Awareness Program

    • Beta Sigma Phi supports breast cancer research.

Beta Sigma Phi supports breast cancer awareness research organizations. A program to consider is a documentary night that features breast cancer research information and cancer research developments. If a documentary cannot be found, compile your own research report, information, photographs and real-life stories onto a slide show or movie format. At the end have an open forum, allowing the members to share any experiences they may have with breast cancer, while brainstorming ways to raise money for more research.

    Famous Alumni

    • There are many notable members in the Beta Sigma Phi sorority. Have a night of honoring members such as Hillary Clinton, Eleanor Roosevelt, Nancy Reagan, Barbara Bush, Debbie Reynolds, Ginger Rogers, etc. by showing a slide-show or movie about their accomplishments, careers, charity work and more. Have a few select members "dress up" as the notables, while the others guess who they are.
