The International Student Exchange Program, or ISEP, offers scholarships to students wishing to study in France or Germany. The New York Community Trust-Annette Kade Fund funds these scholarships. The program aids students who want to study abroad but who don't have the funds to do so. The program pairs students with ISEP partner schools in France or Germany. Students can apply for one of two $1,000 scholarships or five $2,000 scholarships available for the 2010-2011 year. Scholarship amounts vary year by year. According to the ISEP website, requirements include membership in ISEP, two completed essays, an application form, and completion of an evaluation form after the program ends.

The Fulbright program is the largest international exchange program in the United States. It helps students and professionals pursue study, research or teaching around the world. Sponsored by the U.S. Department of State, this program "awarded approximately 6,000 grants in 2008, at a cost of more than $275.4 million," according to the Fulbright website. These funds helped students and teachers pursue education in more than 150 countries, including France. One way to receive financial help through this program is by applying for an English Teaching Assistantship, or ETA. If chosen to participate, the program will most likely place you in a school outside of the capital, and activities will be in place to help you teach your students about the United States and improve their English language skills. Fifty-five grants are available for ETAs in France, including five Fulbright-French Government Teaching Assistantships in English. According to the website, "all candidates who apply for the English Teaching Assistantship program in France will be considered for both the Fulbright and non-Fulbright TA awards."
