Dental Hygiene Training Programs

Chances are, when you head to the dentist for a cleaning, cavity fill, scaling or root canal, the person you spend the most time with is the dental hygienist. Hygienists are tasked with evaluating a patient's overall health, noting any problems or concerns, performing procedures and assisting the dentist at chairside. The United States Department of Labor rates the field of dental hygiene as one of the fastest growing professions; employment is experiencing a 10-year rise of 36 percent through the year 2018. To become a dental hygienist requires specialized training and education, offered through programs at schools across the country.
