Yale University's School of Art ranks second in the country, according to "U.S. News & World Report." The school provides graduate study in art fields including painting, printmaking, graphic design, sculpture and photography, with students earning a master of fine arts upon graduation. The school also offers an art major for undergraduate students as well as elective courses for non-majors. The Digital Media Center for the Arts, the Yale University Art Gallery and the Yale Photography Lab are among the facilities offered to students to aid their work. The school requires seniors to complete a project before graduation. The school believes art students should receive well-rounded art training; however, the advanced studios allow students to specialize in art areas such as painting and sculpture. The School of the Arts at Virginia Commonwealth University provides bachelor of fine arts degrees in fields including art history, art education, sculpture, painting and graphic design. Graduate students have a number of specialized art training opportunities, such as sculpture, glass, fiber arts, ceramics and printmaking. Students have the opportunity to study abroad in Qatar. VCU provides summer art programs for high school students, as well as a summer studio for students who already hold a bachelor's degree in painting, printmaking or sculpture.
