There are seven secondary schools in South Dakota, both colleges and vocational-techs, that offer medical lab technician training. Medical lab technicians perform tests and analyze different body fluids and cells, which aid in the diagnosing and treatment of various ailments. A student can usually expect a year and a half to three years of classroom work, followed by a year of practicum at a clinic or hospital.
