Founded in 1972, the Oklahoma State University (OSU) College of Medicine was founded with the intention of providing primary care physicians to rural Oklahomans. Located in the city of Tulsa, Oklahoma, the medical college merged with the rest of the university system in 1988. One of the innovative features of OSU's osteopathic medicine program is the fact that students can pursue the D.O. degree in conjunction with not only a PhD degree, but also the Master of Business Administration or a Master of Science in a related field. This gives the medical student the opportunity to pursue significant research or prepare for the field of medical administration.
