National Accreditation Schools

The Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools, established in 1912, maintains a list of nearly 700 independent post-secondary schools around the globe offering career-focused curricula up to a master's degree. The organization has recognition from the U.S. Department of Education and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation, and according to the group's website, has the longest history of accrediting institutions of higher education in the United States.

    • The Art Institutes International Minnesota offers certificate, associate's and bachelor's degree programs in culinary arts, design, fashion and media arts. Students may participate in study abroad opportunities for a duration of a week to a full semester. The college offers an online study program in partnership with the Art Institute of Pittsburgh with 10 bachelor's programs; associate's degrees in graphic design, kitchen and bath design, web design and interactive media; and certificate programs in digital design, residential planning and web design. Working students can take advantage of on-campus evening and weekend degree programs in culinary arts or management, graphic or web design and certificate programs in the art of cooking or baking and pastry.

    Everest Institute

    • Everest Institute in Rochester, N.Y., just one of the college's network of schools in 23 U.S. states, offers 13 different bachelor's degree programs. The school offers associate's degrees in accounting, computer information science-programming, medical assisting and paralegal. Students may pursue certificate programs in administrative office technology, business, business accounting and applications, business management, computer information science-web design, criminal justice, information processing specialist, medical insurance billing and coding or programming for business. Students may complete associate's, bachelor's and master's programs completely online in accounting, business, business administration, criminal justice, criminal investigation, homeland security and paralegal. Students can complete programs in nine months to two years.

    Northwestern Polytechnic University

    • Northwestern Polytechnic University, located in the San Francisco Bay, trains students for work in the nearby, high-tech Silicon Valley and beyond. Students may pursue bachelor's curricula in business administration and information sciences, computer science, computer systems engineering and electrical engineering. The school offers post-baccalaureate programs, including master's degrees in business administration, electrical engineering, computer systems engineering and computer science; and doctoral degrees in business administration and computer engineering. Students may take some courses online. During the fourth week of the fall semester, the school awards 10 $1,000 scholarships by application to students whom have attended the school at least one year, have a minimum grade point average of 3.8 and have been active in at least one club and one professional society, in addition to an accompanying essay and faculty member recommendation.
