The Best Respiratory Therapy Schools in Pennsylvania

As valued health care professionals, respiratory therapists treat chronic and acute cardio-respiratory conditions, such as lung disease and asthma. To practice as a licensed respiratory therapist in Pennsylvania, one must obtain at minimum an accredited associate's degree. The best programs, however, are those that offer an accredited degree at the baccalaureate level with adequate preparation for certification examinations and employment opportunities. Several Pennsylvania schools offer quality programs in respiratory therapy.
  1. Millersville University of Pennsylvania

    • The respiratory therapy program at Millersville University is one of the oldest in the United States. Students may choose between a Bachelor of Science in Biology with Respiratory Therapy Option and a Bachelor of Science in Allied Health Technologies. Both programs prepare graduates for the certification examination under the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) and, afterward, the Advanced Practice Registry Examination (RRT). Depending on which degree program a student chooses, he or she will study for two or three years at the university followed by 19 months of practical professional training in a clinical setting.
