"U.S. News & World Report" ranks the world's best universities each year by subject. According to recent rankings, five Canadian schools rank among the 50 best schools for engineering in the world.

    • The University of Toronto ranks eighth in the world for engineering according to "U.S. News & World Report." The university offers eight specializations for undergraduate study in the field. All undergraduates complete core math and science coursework for their first two years. Students then select an area of concentration at the end of their second year. The university also offers graduate programs in seven specializations through individual departments.

    • The University of British Columbia's engineering program recently ranked 17th in the world according to "U.S. News & World Report."
