The Best Engineering Schools in North America

The best engineering schools in the United States and Canada have highly regarded undergraduate and graduate programs and are leaders in research and innovation. Talented science students are not limited to a geographic area when selecting a competitive engineering program as highly selective schools are located on both the East and West coasts and in central Canada.
  1. Massachusetts Institute of Technology

    • MIT, one of the world’s most prestigious science-oriented universities, has the No. 1-ranked engineering program in the United States, according to the 2010 U.S. News & World Report list of top engineering graduate programs. It also ranks No. 1 on the magazine’s 2009 list of best undergraduate engineering programs. The Boston-area school is a leader in developing cutting edge initiatives including the Global Village Project, which brings the university’s engineering problem-solving expertise to developing countries. More than 60 percent of MIT’s undergraduates, a total of 1,886, study engineering. There are 2,794 graduate students.
