List of Accredited Colleges in Florida

Due in part to Florida'a large population, many private and public colleges are located throughout the state. Many Florida colleges are historic institutions with rich traditions. Any college in Florida should at least be accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) in order for college credits to transfer to other accredited educational institutions and universities.
  1. Florida Southern College

    • Established in 1883, Florida Southern College is Florida's oldest college. This private school is located in Lakeland. According to the school's website, FSC was ranked in the top 5 baccalaureate colleges in the South by "U.S. News and World Report." The college is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the SACS. FSC offers graduate and undergraduate programs in business, education, fine arts, music, and nursing and also offers students the opportunity to study abroad in 13 countries. The campus features residence halls, sports facilities, and fine arts festivals. With an enrollment of 1,118, the average class size is 20 students.

    Flagler College

    • Flagler College is a four-year private college located in historic St Augustine, Florida's oldest city. Flagler's enrollment is 2,716 students from the U.S. and abroad. Flagler is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the SACS to award bachelor's degrees. The school's programs include business administration, economics, education, history, psychology, sociology, and theater arts. The campus is located just a few miles from the Atlantic Coast and features athletic facilities, residence halls, and an advanced library.

    Miami Dade College

    • Primarily located in Miami, Miami Dade College is home to 170,000 students scattered across eight campuses. Established in the 1960s and fully accredited by the SACS, Miami Dade College offers certificate, associate's, and bachelor's degrees in more than 150 areas of study, including architecture, aviation, business, education, health sciences, justice, and nursing. Campuses are located in Hialeah, Homestead, Little Havana, Kendall, and north, west, and downtown Miami. Although Miami Dade College doesn't have residence halls, apartment buildings are located near every campus.
