Jarvis Christian College (JCC) in Hawkins, Texas, is a historically black Christian College affiliated with the Disciples of Christ denomination of the Christian church. Founded in 1913, JCC eventually received its accreditation from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. Today the college offers a number of different degree programs through its two primary academic divisions. The division of arts and education offers degrees in English, religion, fine arts, music, history, and literature and languages. The business administration and science division offers degrees in science, math, sociology, biology, social justice and chemistry.

Criswell College in Dallas, Texas, is also a private Christian college. The school's Christian heritage comes from its association with the Southern Baptist Church. Founded in 1970, Criswell College received its accreditation from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools in 1985. Criswell College differs from Jarvis Christian College and Austin College in that its academic programs are specifically geared towards students wanting to specialize in some area of Christian ministry. All undergraduate majors at Criswell are in the field of biblical studies. Minors are offered various areas of specialization such as biblical languages, student ministry, humanities, Jewish studies and a number of related fields.
