The University of Cincinnati offers a master's degree in nursing, with a focus in midwifery. The degree requires the completion of 87 credit hours, as well as 900 clinical hours. The program generally takes two and a half years to finish, and includes courses in Advanced Physiology, Pharmacology for Advanced Nursing Practice and Finance and Economics of Health Care. Students wishing to obtain admission to the graduate program must hold a RN license at the time of application, a bachelor's degree in nursing. They must also submit a personal statement, resume and three letters of recommendation. Students must also have had mother and child nursing experience for a minimum of one year, and labor and delivery experience is preferred.

The University of Florida offers a Master of Science degree in nursing, or a Doctorate in Nursing Practice, with a focus in midwifery. The programs offered have a focus on the needs of expectant mothers, as well as the role of family members in managing the needs of the mother. Prospective students must hold a bachelor's degree in nursing with a minimum 3.0 GPA, as well as a minimum GRE test score of 1000. International students must also meet various requirements, including obtaining acceptable scores on the TOEFL. A resume, as well as references and a statement of intent, must be submitted. There is also a co-op program between the university and Florida State University. The agreement allows students to transfer a higher number of credits from Florida State to the University of Florida. Students wishing to pursue the Doctorate in Nursing Practice degree are required to present a standard application, including proof of a bachelor's degree, and must have a minimum grade point average of 2.0 obtained during the last two years of college.

The University of Kansas Medical Center offers a master's level program, focusing on the needs of women and their families during pregnancy. Neonatal care is also emphasized. Prospective students must be a RN licensed in Kansas and Missouri. The application must include, but is not limited to, proof of a bachelor's degree with a "B" average, completion of a graduate-level statistics course, three letters of recommendation and a personal interview, if deemed necessary. There is also a joint program offered with the University of Missouri and Wichita State University for master's degree-holding students wishing obtain a post-master's certificate.
