The Darden College of Education at Old Dominion University offers two fifth-year degree programs resulting in teacher licensure at the elementary or early childhood level. (Under a fifth-year program, students complete a bachelor's degree and then earn a master's degree during a fifth year of study.) Both programs lead to a Master of Science in education. The early childhood education program emphasizes early childhood growth and development and prepares students to teach preschool through the third grade.
