Stanford's undergraduate psychology program ranks first in both the CollegeCrunch and Gourman reports. Stanford's program boasts 17 research labs and several award-winning, top-ranked faculty. The program was founded in 1892, one of the first psychology departments in the country. In 2010, the school hosted its first-ever psychology undergraduate research conference, featuring undergraduate research presentations by more than 70 students from 27 different schools, according to Stanford's website.

Yale University ranks second on the Gourman Report's list of the best undergraduate psychology programs and third on CollegeCrunch's list. The program offers research areas in behavioral neuroscience, developmental and social psychology, clinical psychology and cognitive psychology, according to Yale's undergraduate psychology program website. Students may also participate in research either in conjunction with a faculty member or under a faculty member's supervision.

The University of Michigan's undergraduate psychology program ranks fourth on the Gourman list and second on the CollegeCrunch list. The psychology department offers students a chance to choose between many different majors, including psychology; brain, behavior and cognitive science; and neuroscience. The school also offers a number of undergraduate student organizations related to psychology, including Psi Chi, the national psychology honors fraternity; the Undergraduate Psychology Society; the Michigan Association of Psychology Scholars; and the Student Health Advocates and Research Exchange.
