Schools on Forestry

Forestry is the management, conservation and preservation of the natural resources of forests. Subsets of forestry include forest biology, forest fire science, forest ecology, forest soil and forestry molecular genetics. In addition to the traditional forest setting, the field of forestry includes urban forestry; industrial forestry; international forestry; and forestry, wildlife and watershed stewardship. For most careers in forestry, you will need a bachelor’s degree. Generally you need an advanced degree in forestry for a supervisory, administrative, research or teaching career.
  1. Warner College of Natural Resources

    • Student organizations at CSU include the Association for Fire Ecology (SAFE).

The Warner College of Natural Resources at Colorado State University (CSU) offers a Bachelor of Science degree program in forestry with concentrations in forest biology, forest fire science, forest management and forestry business. The college offers a bachelor’s degree in rangeland ecology with a concentration in range and forest management. Master of Science and Ph.D. degree programs offered by Warner College’s Department of Forest, Rangeland & Watershed Stewardship include forest ecology, forest fire science, forest economics and policy analysis, forest ecosystem management, quantitative analysis of natural resource policy and management and geographic information systems.

    Clemson University

    • Clemson University also offers extension and continuing education courses in forestry including.

Clemson University offers a Bachelor of Science in forest resources management. Three graduate programs are offered in forestry: a non-thesis master of forest resources management program, a Master of Science (MSN) degree program and a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) degree program. In partnership with the Peace Corps, Clemson University’s graduate school offers a “Peace Corps Master's International” program (PCMI). Students spend three to six semesters on campus before being assigned to a forest resource management project in the Peace Corps. PCMI students spend the next two years in the Peace Corps.
