Brevard Community College offers both a two-year Medical Laboratory Technician Associate in Science degree and a Medical Laboratory Technology Applied Technology diploma. The associate degree enables students to learn the fundamentals of medical laboratory techniques and apply them in the college's laboratory on human patient simulation technology and in clinical placement. Graduates of the program are eligible for national certification and state licensure. The diploma program requires 40 credit hours for completion and is available to students who have obtained an associate degree or higher. Courses in the program include hematology, serology and coagulation, parasitology and mycology, pathology and medical microbiology. Students participate in three practical placements throughout the program to apply newly learned techniques in a clinical setting.

Keiser University offers an Associate of Science in Medical Laboratory Technician that prepares students to perform laboratory testing procedures in clinics, medical offices and hospitals. Graduates are eligible to take the national Medical Technologist certification examination. The clinical placements begin early in the two-year program to provide maximum professional application for students. The program requires 85 credit hours for completion and includes courses in clinical chemistry, laboratory mathematics, urinalysis and immunohematology. Students also complete general education courses in behavioral science, communications, humanities and natural science.
