Founded in 1965, Polytech Adult Education is located in Woodside and provides training courses to roughly 5,000 students per year. The public institution offers programs in a number of fields, including nursing, pharmacy technology, computer-aided drafting, electrical work, plumbing and heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC). The school also offers classes in home improvement for do-it-yourself homeowners and special interest courses like cooking, couponing, scrap-booking and sign language. Also offered are high school equivalency (GED) courses. Classes typically meet during evening hours, and some courses are available online. Eligible students can receive private loans or Department of Labor grants to help offset the cost of tuition.
