Founded in 1926, Stautzenberger College is a privately owned, nonsectarian institution with its main campus in Maumee. The college offers associate degrees and certificates in fields like banking, investment and finance; nursing; information technology; veterinary technology; medical assisting; court reporting and paralegal studies. Classes are held during morning and evening hours, and most programs at the school are completable with two years of full-time study or less. A number of courses are available online. The college participates in federal and state loan and grant, work-study and scholarship financial aid programs. The career service department helps students write resumes, prepare interviews and research job openings.

The United Church of Christ founded Heidelberg University in 1850 in the town of Tiffin, and in 1989, the school opened a branch location in Maumee known as the Arrowhead Park branch campus. The college offers accelerated degree programs that allow students to complete all necessary course requirements by attending courses part-time during evening hours only. Among the degree programs offered at the Arrowhead Park campus are baccalaureate degrees in accounting, business administration and psychology and master's degrees in business administration, counseling and education. The branch has a computer lab on site for student use. Approximately 98 percent of all students at Heidelberg receive some type of financial aid, reports the "2009 Barron's Profiles of American Colleges."
